What is the name of the Wedding venue? Johannesdal 1207

How long should we come to South Africa for? We suggest for people to make a holiday out of it and come for either 7 - 14 days. Cape Town is a picturesque city that has natural beauty, rich culture and thriving art and food scene. There is so much to see and do in Cape Town and around the outskirts! Our wedding will be held in Cape Town so our guests will be able to take in the atmosphere of the stunning beaches and views of Table Mountain. Guests will have the chance to be immersed in the rich culture and enjoy the food and art scene. The Wedding and Recovery Day will be held in Stellenbosch, a famous wine region. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful region of Stellenbosch and neighbouring Franschoek, both filled with endless wine estates and amazing food places. Should you wish to spend more than 1 week in Cape Town, we recommend driving along the Cape of Good Hope, visiting the penguins in Simon’s Bay, driving along the Garden Route or visiting the beach towns in the Eastern Cape. As you are in South Africa no trip to Southern Africa is complete without a Safari - We recommend doing a Safari in either South Africa, Botswana or Zambia.

When should we book flights & accommodation? We recommend booking flights and accommodation ASAP. Currently from Australia flights are currently on sale to Johannesburg via Sydney flying with Qantas at $1800 which is very cheap for the time considering travel has gone up and dates are close to Easter, we have usually paid $2500 plus (even 10 years ago). We stress to book the Wedding venue area - Stellenbosch accommodation ASAP, as Stellenbosch is a Wedding vicinity and our wedding is during the peak Wedding season. Already we have noticed that only 60% of all accommodation options are available with popular places nearly booked out for our dates!

Where & how long should we stay for the Wedding events? We recommend landing in Cape Town and staying a few days/nights in Cape Town to settle in before the Welcome Day. We then suggest to make your way to the Stellenbosch wine region and stay 2/3 nights here for the Wedding & Recovery. Please see here for all accommodation recommendations.

Where will you both be staying? We will be arriving in Cape Town on the 27th March - staying in Clifton Beach, we recommend people to arrive from either 28th March to settle in and enjoy Cape Town for the weekend. We will both be doing a few activities, dinners, lunches - so happy for everyone to meet up with us. If you would like to be close to us please stay near Clifton Beach. We then will be travelling to the Wedding venue earlier and suggest for everyone to arrive on the 1st of April or day of the Wedding 2nd April, staying till 4th April in Stellenbosch. We then will be spending the long weekend in Cape Town, 4th - 7th April and hope to spend time with you all.

Is eating out and drinking expensive? Eating out and drinking in South Africa is very cheap due to the currency exchange, currently its $1AUD = $12ZAR and $1GBP = $23ZAR. You will find alcohol extremely cheap compared to Australia and the UK.

What does loadshedding mean? Load shedding is an energy utility's method of reducing demand on the energy generation system by temporarily switching off the distribution of energy to certain areas. However all Airbnb’s and Hotels should have a generator to provide backup electricity during these times. Best to check if your accommodation has plans in place for loadshedding. We didn’t even notice when loadshedding was happening on our last trip.

Where will the wedding events be happening and how do we get to and from these events? Welcome Day - 30th March - Clifton, Cape Town - We recommend if staying in Cape Town to get an Uber to Clifton Beach (Address will be given closer to the time). If already staying in Clifton you can walk to the beach. Wedding Day - 2nd April - Stellenbosch, Cape Town - We recommend driving to Stellenbosch the day before or on the Wedding Day. This is an hour trip from Cape Town. Should you not be hiring a car, please reach out to Kylie to organise transport/car pools. Recovery Day - 3rd April - Stellenbosch, Cape Town - Boschendal is a 5 min drive from the Wedding venue and on the main road in Stellenbosch. Guests can either drive here or Uber. Please reach out should you need to organise transport/car pools.

Will there be transport on the day of the wedding? Yes we will have bus that will pick up and drop off guests from their accommodation. Should you wish to drive to the Wedding venue you are welcome to do so.

Is there parking at the wedding venue? Yes there will be enough parking at the wedding venue

Is travelling to South Africa safe? We understand that travelling to South Africa is a place that isn’t on many people’s bucket lists or an area of interest due to information about the uncertainty of the country. We are aware that many people have doubts or are concerned about safety, however we want to reassure you that you will be fine and like travelling to any overseas country you just need to be vigilant and exercise caution. Cape Town is very safe due to the mass amounts of tourists that visit each year, Cape Town is unlike other places in South Africa and has a low crime rate. Our Wedding events are based in tourist areas, so are completely safe and we want to reassure you that we would never have a Wedding in a place that would put people at risk. Our wedding event planner plans over 200 weddings a year with majority being from other countries. We have recently both travelled to South Africa in 2022 and we both agree that we felt safer in Cape Town than in many places in Europe - (Barcelona, Rome and Paris which is known for mass picket pocketing). Among Kylie’s many travels she has previously been followed in Paris, had a bag stolen in Italy and a phone stolen in Barcelona. But she has never felt unsafe like that in South Africa, people are very friendly and accommodating. We hope that you can be reassured you will be safe and have a beautiful time, its a shame as assumptions really do put a dampen on a beautiful city which is unlike any place you’ve ever been too! Please reach out if you have questions as we know googling or speaking to others can often mislead you and we want you to be at complete ease.

Do we need to get Malaria vaccines for South Africa? No Malaria vaccine is needed for South Africa or many parts of Southern Africa, unless travelling to Kenya.

What will the weather be like? Please be mindful that our Wedding will be at the start of the Autumn season, when nights can get a little chilly. No matter the season in Cape Town there is always wind due to being high above sea level with Cape Town westerly winds bringing cold fronts. Days will be a top of 25 degrees with nights at 15 degrees or colder. We recommend bringing a little jacket or jumper and some warmer bottoms. Please don’t expect scorching heat or an European summer.

What is the dress code? We have no dress code for the Wedding day, please feel free to wear anything that you are comfortable in! Remember due to the Autumn season you may need a jacket/cardigan for the evening of the Wedding! There will be heaters and blankets for the Wedding night :)

Are children welcome? Yes, please let us know if you will be bringing your children so we can accommodate for food and provide nanny support. Please email

We would like to give you a gift? Many of you are travelling across the globe to celebrate with us in Cape Town so your presence means the absolute world to us and is all we ask for. Your presence on the day is your gift and we don’t expect anything. As our wedding will be a destination wedding, physical gifts will be hard for us to take back to Australia. If you would still like to gift us something, we would be so grateful with contributions to our honeymoon fund, please see our bank details below
